LLL is supporting the development of a multi-artform collaborative installation that reimagines aspects of the story of The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen to explore contemporary themes of social isolation, gender, sexuality, migration and exile. The culmination of the R&D will be presented for one day only, on the Winter Solstice, 21st December 2018.

Featuring work by poet Maria Jastrzebska, composer Peter Copley, visual artist Dagmara Rudkin and photographer / filmmaker, Wendy Pye, with performances by actress Rita Suszek and musician Ellie Blackshaw

Pushkin's Half Hour

by John Agard

Sat 29 Dec, 7.30pm

White Hart Hotel, Lewes

A whimsical whirlwind homage to Pushkin's famous verse novel, Eugene Onegin, in which John Agard plays all the parts, not just Pushkin and his alter-ego Onegin, but love interest Tatyana and the old nursemaid Filipevna! With live music for accordion, ukulele and voice.

Poetry Small Group Seminars

Led by Mimi Khalvati.

A popular course of holistic poetry seminars with the emphasis on continuity and developing work in progress. For the forthcoming winter season there are only two workshop dates: Saturdays 17 November and 15 December.

Mimi's courses are aimed at experienced poets and are frequently oversubscribed; however, sometimes there are a couple of places available. Poets interested should contact LLL direct.

Billy Bragg at Penned Up

LLL recently ran its third festival in a prison at HMP Erlestoke in Wiltshire. Guests included Levi Roots and novelist Kit de Waal.
